Are you ready to be seen and heard?

When I was seven years old we moved to Cassis, a small fishing village in the South of France.⁣ Choosing schools was easy because there was only one option – the local elementary school next to the town square.⁣ The French language was so beautiful and melodic, but it was terrifying to watch the teacher’s lips move and not understand a single word.⁣

The hardest time was recess. I vividly remember standing alone along the outskirts of the school playground for months watching life happen around me. I desperately wanted to join the girls playing jump rope or sitting huddled in circles, shoulders touching, engrossed in conversation.⁣

I think that was the first time that I learned that it was easier to disappear. I remember it being a choice. A conscious choice. ⁣Because disappearing was easier.⁣

Why do I tell you this story? Because on that playground I learned that you get what you ask for. If you want to disappear nobody is going to stop you. If you want to be seen and heard you have to ask for that.⁣

When I first started my business it was no different. I wanted to share my gifts but found myself hiding both in my business and on my website. Because hiding was easier⁣.⁣

Here is the deal, we all need to be seen. It’s part of what makes us human. When we don’t allow ourselves to be seen, we diminish our importance in this world. We hold ourselves back from greatness. We stifle our contributions. And it just plain doesn’t feel good.

I want you to look at your website and ask yourself if you are hiding. Are you undervaluing yourself? Are you holding back? Are you trying to step out of the spotlight?⁣

Then ask yourself what your website would look like if you were ready to stop hiding and instead show the world that you are ready to be seen and heard.⁣
